Dive into my world for a minute :)
Thank you so much for your interest in my work. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Charis, pronounced like Paris with a "K" sound in the beginning. I am a self taught artist from California and my main mediums are oil painting on canvas and graphite sketching on paper.
Me :)
I started my artistic journey when I was 17, I started out with just pencil and paper and the desire to capture people's emotions through my work. Eventually during a visit to my uncle (who is an amazing oil painter) he showed me how to use oil paint, how to clean brushes, what turpentine does, the essentials. Unfortunately, I let a lot of precious time go to waste and I only completed a few paintings the following years after my introduction to oil painting. Now, I am thriving and my desire to create is at its all time peak!
Rewind a few years, my first exposure to the world of selling was 2015 for the Global Belief Project's annual Fundraiser where I sold my very first piece. In the midst of my on-again-off-again years of painting I found out that I had a tumor squished between my heart and spine that required me to have open chest surgery. My recovery was such a struggle as I could barely hold myself up in bed let alone sit in front of an easel for hours or even a few minutes. Two years went by where I was scared to try because of the pain. During that time I got engaged to the love of my life, we got married and then with the encouragement from my husband the passion resurfaced. From there started the madness that has bloomed into the passion I have today.
